Whatever has happened it needs to be turned off and burried if this is a setting Vanhelzing that's not on the advanced options page for the start up page nor is it under any menue. May game looks nothing like those videos at all actually. When i get these things will my turret blocks rotate on their proper axis? I've tried doing this without directionals of any sort to help and through trail and error have ruled out all possible directions.

How do i get whatever those are? this download is direct through steam and I have no mods. (And after reading your problems, it may be just that, you use one of the deprecated packs, and are missing textures to identify the sides) If you do not see any arrow, you either rotated it wrong, OR use any texture pack other then 'default'.
